We have some new developments, tips and tricks to
share:
• Friday 29/06/2007 we will do our yearly stock-take
and will be available for emergency calls only.
• Microsoft and our major server hardware vendors
are aggressively promoting the perfect platform for
small business: The Microsoft Small Business Server
2003. Therefore we launched a end-of-the-financial
year server special. Normally a complete server installation
would cost more than $10k, now we are able to provide
you with a server solution for below $8000 as a fixed
price project. Most of the server bundles have run
out of stock, but it is not too late if you contact
us soon.

• We ended the support of Windows 95, 98 and
Me systems. It is not viable to spend any time on
these old PCs.
• Microsoft ended support for Windows 2000 systems;
we will still support these PCs and servers for about
1 year.
• From the beginning of the year many PCs had
trouble with the Microsoft Windows Defender. The symptoms
are error message during start-up of the PC relating
to Defender and no Internet connection. The solution
is to uninstall the current Defender and downloading
the latest version from the Microsoft download website
(www.microsoft.com).
• All new PCs will be set up with Windows Vista,
the newest Microsoft operating system. The more recent
PCs can be upgraded to Vista, however there are many
pitfalls. On our website (and Microsoft’s Vista
website) you can download the Windows Vista Upgrade
Advisor tool. We recently changed all our workstations
to run Windows Vista only and we love it!
• During the Windows Vista launch Microsoft
also released the new Office Suite version 2007. We
have played with the beta versions for a few months
now and we have this Office version in our retail
list. From now on the previous Office versions are
NOT available anymore for retail.
• Office Suite 2007 has new document formats,
which are not compatible with the older versions.
Businesses with both versions will be in trouble,
however there are solutions! Office 2007 can be installed
so that it by default will create files in the Office
2003 format. There is also an add-on for Office 2003,
which enables that version to work with the new Office
2007 formats. This add-on can be downloaded from the
Microsoft website.

• Encore: McAfee has made available a very useful
free tool: Site Advisor for Internet Explorer. This
tool adds a button to your Internet Explorer, which
will change colour to show the safety status of that
web-site. It also integrates in some search engine
results (Google, MSN). To install this on your PC
(you need administrator level privilege), download
and install the tool from www.siteadvisor.com .
